What are exosomes?

Exosomes are membrane-bound nanovesicles (30–150 nm) that act as intercellular messengers. They have a lipid bilayer membrane like cells and carry bioactive cargo (proteins, growth factors, lipids, mRNAs, microRNAs, etc.) from their cell of origin . When an exosome encounters a target cell, it can interact in multiple ways. First, surface molecules on the exosome can bind to receptors on the target cell’s membrane, initiating signaling cascades (similar to any ligand-receptor interaction) . More uniquely, an exosome can fuse with the cell’s plasma membrane, depositing its internal contents directly into the cell’s cytoplasm. They are produced in cGMP-certified labs or under stringent conditions.

What about Platelet Rich plasma?

Exosomes and PRP growth factors represent two very different modes of cell communication. Exosomes act like tiny delivery shuttles, capable of merging with target cells to drop off a rich payload of growth signals and genetic instructions inside the cell. In contrast, PRP’s growth factors function more like external messengers that knock on the cell’s door (bind receptors) to deliver a message, but don’t enter the cell. Exosome therapy can influence cells at a deeper level and with a broader scope than traditional PRP growth factor treatments. This has important implications for regenerative medicine and healing: therapies employing exosomes can potentially orchestrate complex changes within target cells
